December 2024 Newsletter The year is coming to a close and we’ve had a lot of Personal Bests (PB’s), as well as disappointments with our fishing season, both resembling the phrase, “That’s why they call it fishing, not catching!” My New Year’s resolution is definitely to go fishing more!! Remember the other saying, “He who goes fishing more, is likely to catch more fish.” Just ask Frank Santiago! Speaking of Frank, a big Thank You to him for being our Guest Speaker at the last meeting. To have somebody who spends so much time fishing the bay, as well as using a quality lure like Hookup Baits, we are lucky to have him present to us. The timing was also perfect for our last tournament of the year on November 16th … the Bay Bass Tournament. We had a strong outgoing tide that lasted the duration of the tournament, but fish were still being caught. The side pot for Halibut was a challenge, with nothing but shorts being hooked and released. Check out Ron’s article for all the news! HAPPY HOLIDAYS!!! We have our last meeting of the year on Wednesday, December 4TH at the Portuguese Hall in Point Loma. The Social begins at 5:00, the Event begins at 6:30. YOU MUST REGISTER for this event ahead of time as we are providing dinner to all! You have to either be a current member, or a new member who has (or will be) signed up for 2025 in order to attend. Spouses and children are included, which is another reason why we need you to sign up early; our honorary club member from the North Pole will be traveling down to our event, giving stockings full of joy to the kids, as well as providing a fun photo op next to the tree! If you would like Santa to give your child a specially wrapped gift from you, please put it in a bag that you can hide from your child, hand it to Mrs. Claus so that Santa can give it to your special one(s).
