January 2024 Newsletter Happiest of Holidays and Best Wishes for a
Great New Year!!
build our membership, to the point where we
were able to have over 100 people at our
Holiday Party! We continue to build, but we
always need help from our members. I
challenge all of you to bring your fishing
buddies to our club meetings as guests and get
them to sign up. If you already like fishing
with them, you might as well hang out with
them some more at our fishing themed events!
For 2023, we had a lot of great speakers to
learn from, each with inspiring information,
tackle and techniques. From masters of their
own crafts, to charter captains, store owners
and landing managers, all sharing their wealth
of information.
There were also great
tournaments and very successful charters.
We had a lot of people land their PB’s
(Personal Bests) of various fish, from large
Yellowtail, Tuna and Billfish, to inshore
Halibut, Bass and Lingcod.
What a
smorgasbord of a year!
Wow, what a great time we had at the Holiday
Party/Awards Banquet! Great appetizers,
great food, an awesome Raffle and Silent
Auction table, the Gift Exchange, lots of great
awards presented, and our own special guest
who took time off from Ice Fishing to be with
us … Santa! I’m not sure who enjoyed
Santa’s company the most, the kids or the
adults!! The kids were each given a stocking
with candy, toys and their own collapsable
fishing rod & reel combo and gear!
Looking back over 2023, I finally took on the
job as President after being a member since
1997! We had a lot of rebuilding to do after
COVID, from 2022 to 2023! The board and
its members made great strides to help re
Reminder, no meeting in January. Our
next meeting will be February 1st at the
VFW in Pacific Beach: 853 Turquoise St,
92109. Our guest speaker is Bob Woodard Jr.,
somebody I’ve known for 40 years! I can
personally vouch for Bob’s expertise in the
sport of fishing, and you will certainly want
to take notes while he speaks.
I would like to thank John and Kelly Chuckta
for their time on the board. John ran the
Tournament Master position for 5 years(!!)
and Kelly was an excellent Treasurer! Those
taking over their positions will be in good
hands with personal training from them.
