December 2023 Newsletter Welcome to the end of the year! What an interesting one it was!! Lots of tuna spread around, mixed in with a bunch of “Neckties” (small Dorado’s). Yellowtail was hit and miss, the Bottom Fish opener was a hot hit, and an assortment of PB’s (Personal Bests) spread through the club. I was just thinking about Yellowtail as I write this … I actually didn’t catch any this year!! I can’t remember the last time I didn’t catch at least one Yellowtail in a calendar year! DECEMBER MEETING / HOLIDAY PARTY / AWARDS BANQUET! Wednesday, December 6th, Portuguese Hall, 2818 Avenida de Portugal, San Diego, CA 92106. Social at 5:00, Dinner at 6:00, and the meeting commences as soon as serving is complete. We need a headcount, so we know how much food to order, and how many stockings to hang for the kids. If (for some reason) you cannot make it to our December event, I can take your membership application over the phone and write your name on a ticket. You do NOT need to be present to win, but it is more fun that way!! Thanks to Doug Kern of Fisherman’s Landing for hooking us up with a great deal on the reel, he even filled it with some complimentary Spectra for us. A REWARDING EXPERIENCE! Please join us on the Board of Directors. Without a board, we have no club! We had a few people sign up at the last meeting, but we can use more help. So, please do not hesitate to call or email me with your interest in getting involved to help keep this club running. It’s a Team Effort and we’re all there to help each other. That’s why we were able to run so smoothly this year! LAST MONTH’S MEETING A big Thank You to Steve Carson of Penn Reels! He did a fantastic job speaking to our group. He certainly had everyone’s attention and there was a lot of note taking! His tips and tricks were very helpful, and now I don’t feel bad for how many rods I take with me on each trip … he takes more than I do!! LOL I would also like to thank Joey from Squidco for hooking us up with some great deals for our raffle table! We also had a lot of guests last month, some signing up as new members! As I have mentioned before, I have been a member since 1997 and have found this club to be nothing short of a benefit! The things I’ve learned, the fun at our events, and the friendships I have made are all Priceless!
